Question 1 : If I pass in all subjects in an ICSE examination can I give a re-exam in 3 subjects?
Answer: A candidate may reappear in one or more subjects subsequent to obtaining a Pass Certificate in the Indian Certificate of Secondary Examinations. A Supplementary Pass Certificate will be awarded thereafter on the successful performance in subjects in which a re- appearance has been undertaken.
Question 2 : I need to change my name in my 10th class certificate. Kindly, tell me the procedure to be followed.
Answer : Correction of the Name / Date of Birth will be examined by the Council provided the application is made, by the school, within a period of one year of the candidate passing the ICSE Examination. If applications are made for correction of name / date of birth after a lapse of one year, they will be considered where such changes have been permitted by a Court of Law. In the event of Court of Law allowing the change of name of a candidate, the same shall be carried out by the Board after obtaining relevant documents concerning change of name published in an official gazette.
Question 3 : I have not yet got my pass certificate for class 10th ICSE examination in which I appeared in the year 2005. What should I do?
Answer : The School authorities may be contacted to initiate the required documentation with an application sent by the school to the Council bearing details of Name, date of birth and Index number of the year of examination.
Question 4 : I would like to know whether a student passing his / her IXth class from one city can take admission in class Xth in another school in a new city.
Answer : Yes, it is possible subject to certain conditions. The Principal of the admitting school should write to us seeking prior approval of transfer admission with the details and relevant documents of the case, so that we may advise accordingly. We don't directly correspond with students, parents or guardians in any matter, whatsoever it may be.
Question 5 : Can you send me the syllabus for all subjects for ICSE 2012 and also the Rules and Regulations of the examination.
Answer : The Council's websites www.cisce.org or www.cisce.in offers all assistance in matters relating to academic interest, and the required information may be downloaded free of cost.
Question 6 : What are the passing criteria for the ICSE 2012 examination?
Answer: PASS CERTIFICATES will be awarded to candidates who at one and the same examination have entered and sat for seven subjects as detailed in Chapter II, B(1) of the "Regulations & Syllabuses booklet, ICSE March 2012 Examination" and have attained the pass standard in at least five subjects which must include the subject English.

 Provided that no candidate, except as otherwise exempted by the Council, shall be awarded a Pass Certificate unless in addition to fulfilling the conditions above he / she has attained a pass grade in SUPW and Community Service as examined/assessed internally by the school.

 STATEMENT OF MARKS will only be issued to candidates who appeared for all the entered subjects of the examination.

 The pass marks for each subject is 35%.
Question 7 : May I get the last ten years ICSE question papers through e-mail.
Answer: The Council website www.cisce.org or www.cisce.in is continuously updated to provide all academic assistance to its student community, and matters relating to specimen question papers or previous years question papers may be downloaded as per given individual needs or requirements or you may order the past papers from the approved publisher whose address you will find in the ICSE Regulations and Syllabuses booklet.
Question 8 : Could you please give me the exact scope of syllabus for the academic year 2011-12, for the subjects Mathematics, Economics, Commercial Studies and Environmental Education?
Answer: Kindly refer to the "I.C.S.E. (Class X)" section of the Council's website www.cisce.org or www.cisce.in.
Question 9 : Is it necessary to pass in Environmental Education for the year 2012 to pass out ICSE examination?
Answer: English, History Civics & Geography, and Environmental Education are compulsory subjects in Group I and must be attempted, however it is mandatory to pass in the subject English along with 4 other subjects as per guidelines issued for the award of the ICSE certificate.
